**Scripture of the Week**

“But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.” - Hebrews 1:8

Notice that both this week’s and last week’s scriptures highlight righteousness. Righteousness is integral to the Kingdom of God; the two are inseparable. As stated, “a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.”

Righteousness simply means being in right standing with God. A scepter symbolizes authority, thus linking righteousness with authority. This is why the Lord says, “I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy.” While power is often discussed, authority is less frequently addressed. Authority is the permission granted by Jesus to exercise power—the legal right to use it. This distinction is crucial because the kingdom of darkness also wields power. Many occultists, witches, and followers of other religions fast and pray to gain spiritual power. What sets us apart is our God-given authority. To walk in Kingdom authority, we must uphold righteousness.

Though all have fallen short of God’s glory and sin by missing the mark of righteousness, it is essential to avoid a lifestyle of sin. Sinning is rebelling against God’s known will, which takes us out of right standing with Him and causes us to relinquish our Kingdom authority.

When we see it from this perspective sin is less attractive, it’s not work our Kingdom authority 🙅🏿‍♀️
